CANBERRA - Australia expelled two diplomats from Syria in response to concern over the incidents of the massacre in the city of Houla, Syria. Australia's Foreign MinisterBob Carr also urged other countries to join expelled diplomats from Syria.
Syrian charge d'affaires in Australia, Jawdat Ali, received a warning from Carr that he was leaving Australia with one another diplomat within 72 hours. The decision wasmade by Carr, one day after the massacre.
"The Syrian government can not expect a continuation of the relationship with the Government of Australia, to observe a cease-fire brand and implement a peacefulsolution," said Carr, told AFP on Tuesday (29/05/2012).
"The massacre claimed the lives of more than 100 people, men, women and children in the City of Houla, this is a cruel and brutal acts," he added.
Carr added that he had warned Ali will be returning. Repatriation Ali will also be a clearmessage to the Government of Syria, which has always claimed to be responsible for the massacre.
So far, the United Nations estimated 9 thousand people have been killed in Syria sinceMarch 2011. However, Syria insists, many lies being voiced against the massacre inHoula incident and a number of incidents of violence in his country.
