Italian PM Promises Aid to Earthquake Victims






Foto : PM Italia Mario Monti (bloomberg)ROME - Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti promised, would help residents in the northern region of the country who are victims of two earthquakes. On this day, Italy hit byearthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter Scale (SR) that killed eight people.

"I want to ensure to all citizens that Italy will do what it should do, as soon as possible so that the situation returns to normal," said Monti, told Reuters on Tuesday (05/29/2012).

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (U.S.), the quake occurred at 09.00 local timeand was centered 40 kilometers (km) in the Northwest Bologna, Italy. Reportedly, the quake shook the tents had come the previous earthquake that occurred on May 20 last.

International Red Cross report, eight people died in the earthquake. Meanwhile, some people reportedly had to be evacuated from schools and shopping center to avoid the increase in fatalities.
